PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A New Bedford woman has been killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Route 95 North in Providence on Saturday night.

Rhode Island state police say 22-year-old Yessica Coreas-Hernandez has died in the crash, which took place at around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

An investigation found that Coreas-Hernandez was traveling in the left lane northbound when she lost control of the motorcycle about 300 feet south of Exit 19 to Route 195, according to state police.

State troopers and Providence fire crews were among the first to respond to the scene of the crash.

Officials say Coreas-Hernandez struck the jersey barrier in the center median and was thrown from the motorcycle, suffering serious injuries.

Fire crews took Coreas-Hernandez to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

State police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
