New Bedford Food Truck Known for Gourmet Grilled Cheese Is Up for Sale After Just One Year

Just one year after a mother-daughter duo brought a cheesy new concept to New Bedford, The Melting Spot is looking for a new owner.

Sara Beth DaSilva and her daughter Naseya opened the food truck with a menu built around creative grilled cheese sandwiches, melts, dirty sodas and milkshakes. Talk about a drool-worthy selection. Now, after going back and forth on the decision, Sara Beth said the business is officially for sale.

“It was a hard decision,” she said. “We went back and forth a little bit with it, but ultimately came to a conclusion."

The Melting Spot Built a Loyal Following

The decision wasn't made because customers stopped showing up. According to Sara Beth, The Melting Spot developed a loyal following that includes New Bedford school staff, city workers, firefighters, police officers and customers who specifically seek out the truck.

“Word of mouth is huge,” she said, adding that they never even needed to use delivery services like DoorDash.

The truck has operated just three hours a day, four days a week, and Sara Beth believes there is plenty of room for a new owner to expand the business. The Melting Spot has even received invitations to events and festivals from New Bedford to Falmouth. For Sara Beth, however, operating the truck with just her daughter became a lot to handle.

Naseya has also decided she wants to pursue a different direction in life, leaving Sara Beth to reconsider her own next chapter. “I think the creating of the business was more the fun part for me,” Sara Beth said. “I am more of the idea person.”

A Turnkey Opportunity for the Next Owner

The Melting Spot is being sold as a turnkey business, including its equipment, POS system, social media accounts and menu. Sara Beth said she is also willing to stay on temporarily to train the new owner and help maintain the food customers have come to love.
