I love the South Coast at Christmas time. Many other communities don't have as many celerbrations as we do.  The City of New Bedford has announced many tree lighting and other holiday events . Heres are a few off the City Of New Bedford web site Here

City of New Bedford Official Christmas Tree Lighting
Date and Time: Saturday, December 5th at 4:30 p.m.
Location: Pleasant Street in Front of Main Library Downtown
Join Mayor Jon Mitchell, New Bedford City Councillors and the New Bedford community for this festive annual event! At 4:30 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead a parade up William Street to the Main Library. The parade will feature the award-winning New Bedford High School Marching Band and the All-City Middle School Marching Band and Color Guard. At 5:00 p.m. Mayor Jon Mitchell will welcome all for the City’s official Tree Lighting Ceremony. This event will include live entertainment, a light show and a vocal performance by special guest, Samantha Johnson!!

  Date and Time: Monday, December 7th at 6:30 p.m.
  Location: Monte Park located at Acushnet Avenue and Cannon Street
• South End Business Association Tree Lighting
  Date and Time: Thursday, December 10th 5:00 p.m. tree lighting
  Location: Howland Green Library, 3 Rodney French Boulevard
• Ashley Park Tree Lighting
  Date and Time: Thursday, December 10th at 7:00 p.m.
  Location: Ashley Park on the corner of Rivet Street and Bolton Street
• Bullard Street Neighborhood Association Tree Lighting
  Date and Time: Saturday, December 12th at 6:30 p.m.
  Location: Riverside Park on the corner of Belleville Avenue and Tallman Street

  Location: Fire Station # 5, 3665 Acushnet Avenue
• Brooklawn Park Association Tree Lighting
  Date and Time: Monday, December 14th at 6:30 p.m.
  Location: Brooklawn Park (1997 Acushnet Avenue)
• Harrington Park Tree Lighting
  Date and Time: Wednesday, December 22nd at 6:30 p.m.
  Location: Harrington Park located at Court Street and Tremont Street (across from Hathaway School)
• Custom House Square Holiday Celebration
  Dates: Saturday, December 12th and Saturday, December 19th
  Location: Custom House Square (Intersection of William Street and Acushnet Avenue in the Historic Downtown) Get ready for the holiday season with an array of holiday activities in Custom House Square. Including: Free horse drawn carriage rides (12-2pm & 3-5pm), Wicked Good Kettle Corn, barbershop quartet-style sounds from the New Bedford Harpoon Harmonizers, street performers and a surprise visit from the Grinch! Take pictures on the big red sled and experience so much more!
