New Bedford Woman Gets Mystery Gluten-Free Pizza Delivery

Imagine answering your door to find a freshly delivered steak and cheese pizza waiting for you, except you never ordered one.

That's exactly what happened to New Bedford's Kate Arsenault shortly after moving into a new apartment. The Domino's delivery was addressed to her new home, but nobody knew who had sent it. Even stranger: it was a gluten-free pizza. Arsenault is gluten-free, so it had to be someone in her close circle.

Arsenault shared the mystery on Facebook, asking if anyone knew where it had come from, joking that hardly anyone even knew her new address yet, and I scooped it right up, detective hat and all.

The Mystery Continues

Curious if "Gluten-Free PizzaGate" had ever been solved, I reached out to Arsenault to see if she found the culprit. "No, I did not," she laughed. "But it was legit and delivered by Domino's, so I ate it, and I'm still here!"

Arsenault, who works at St. Luke's Hospital, told me she's still in the middle of moving and has been bringing things over little by little because hiring movers just wasn't in the budget. So this unexpected meal actually came at the perfect time.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust.
