The Kennedy-Donovan Center in New Bedford has been working with developmentally challenged children, adults and their families for more than 50 years, helping to find the most supportive and least restrictive ways to meet everyone’s individual goals.

The New Bedford campus is located in two buildings at Hawthorne and County Streets, and provides a variety of services.

KDC's Director of Development and Communications Mariah Nolan and Development Coordinator Hadley Porreca joined Townsquare Sunday to discuss what the agency does, and share details on a special event happening on Friday, April 11.

"We currently serve about 13,000 people across Massachusetts, in six locations from Central Mass down to the Cape and Islands," Nolan said.

Its programs include adult foster care, respite services, family support, intensive foster care and early intervention, to name a few.

"We really run the gamut on things that we do for people in the community," Nolan said. "We try to meet people where they are, and offer individualized services to help them reach their full potential."

To help continue its important work, KDC is holding a special event on Friday, April 11: Kennedy-Donovan Center's Night of Impact: Passport to Potential. It is being held at the Century House in Acushnet.

Those attending the event will enjoy music from two local bands, delicious food, a silent auction and some heartwarming stories of opportunity, empowerment and transformation.

Tickets for KDC's Night of Impact can be obtained by texting "impact25" to 76278, or by visiting the Kennedy-Donovan Center website.

"We've done a gala for years and have been very successful with it, but this year we are focusing on a different type of event and hope it will be a lot more accessible to the community."
