A local fitness facility is opening up its hearts for the third year in a row to celebrate autism awareness and acceptance. Autism affects millions of people around the world, and it’s important to support those living with it, as well as their families.

That’s why the community is coming together for an event that promises both fun and purpose.

On Sunday, April 27 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Top Tier Performance Autism Fundraiser will be held at the Andrea McCoy Recreation Center at 181 Hillman Street (Building #8) in New Bedford. This free, family-friendly event is all about raising awareness and support for people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

There will be plenty to enjoy for all ages, from kids’ activities and live music to free food and fun raffles. You’ll also find helpful resources, commemorative T-shirts for sale, and more ways to show your support.

Best of all, every dollar raised will go to the Kennedy-Donovan Center, a local organization that helps individuals with developmental challenges.

The Kennedy-Donovan Center (KDC) provides a wide range of services to children, adults, and families in need of developmental, educational, and behavioral support. From early intervention programs to adult day services and family support, KDC works to empower people with the tools they need to live more independent, fulfilling lives, right here in our community.

Since April is Autism Awareness Month, this is the perfect way to end it on a high note by giving back, having fun and showing support for an important cause.
