National Grid Warns Customers of Scam
Don't give anyone who says they are from the power company a debit card number. That's the warning from National Grid.
The utility company says there is a billing scam that targets customers. ABC6 reports that people claiming they are from National Grid say they are calling about an overdue bill. They add that can only accept a pre-paid debit card.
If someone does call and says they are from the power company, you are advised to ask for the last five digits of your National Grid account number. If the are actually from the company, they will have that number.
