Scammers Impersonating Powerball Winner On Social Media

Police are warning people of a new social media scam involving the recent Powerball winner from Chicopee, MA.

According to Chicopee police, someone has been creating fake Facebook and Instagram profiles with the recent Powerball winner's name.

The fake Mavis Wanczyk then asks people to follow or like her in exchange for money.

Police say this is a scam and responding to any friend requests could compromise your financial information.

Though it is not known if anyone has fallen for this scam yet, police say they are monitoring any fake accounts they find on social media and advise people not to share any information with them.
