I'll never forget the first time I heard the album Straight Outta Compton.  I hid the cassette from my parents because the lyrics were so explicit, but I wore out the tape playing it so much in high school.  The anger and rage in the album is a work of art, and it proved to be a perfect match for a teenaged boys...black or white...rich or poor.  Straight Outta Compton sold more than 3 million copies to become double platinum.

This was the album that pioneered gangsta rap, and Entertainment Weekly is reporting that it is now being recognized in a biopic about NWA.  "Straight Outta Compton" has been green lit and a release date was set for August, 2015.

The studio also announced that they have cast the roles for the "big 3," Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the late Eazy-E. The other two spots, to portray MC Ren and DJ Yella, are still in the casting stage.  Ice Cube's son, O'shea Jackson Jr., will be playing the role of his dad, in the film.

Here's Ice Cube's Twitter with some tweets about the film...
