Movie Filmed In Rochester Gets An Oscar Nod
The Oscar nominees were announced this morning and it was great to see that a movie partly filmed in our neck of the woods, got themselves an Oscar nod!
The movie Joy scored itself the spotlight as Jennifer Lawrence was nominated in the Best Actress in a lead role category. The film has several scenes that were shot right here on the Southcoast in Rochester. Vaughn Hill Road and Hartley Road were a few areas where crews were spotted filming the movie. Joy also stars Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro.
During filming last year, residents say they saw actors wearing Amish costumes and were in horse and buggy. Most of the shots showcase the beauty of Rochester that we may sometimes take for granted as locals.
Other films nominated this morning... The Revenent getting 12 nominations, Mad Max: Fury Road with 10 and Spotlight and The Martian also up for awards in several categories. The 88th Oscar Awards Show is February 28th on ABC, be sure to watch!
