Motorcyclist Hospitalized in Fall River Crash

FALL RIVER — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after hitting a car that had failed to stop at a red light on Monday night.

Fall River police said at around 8:20 p.m. Monday, emergency first responders were called to the intersection of Brayton Avenue and Jefferson Street for the reported crash involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a car.

Witnesses told police that a gray Chrysler sedan had failed to stop or yield before turning north onto Jefferson Street at a red light.

As the sedan turned north, a motorcycle heading west on Brayton Avenue hit the car's passenger side.

The collision threw the motorcyclist forward and onto the road, according to police.

Police confirmed that the Harley Davidson motorcycle driver had the right of way at the time of the crash.

She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries that police described as serious, but non-life-threatening.

Police said the Chrysler driver was taken to Saint Anne's Hospital with minor injuries, and was cited at the scene for driving without a license and failing to yield.

Authorities did not identify either of the people involved in the crash.

No further details were disclosed.
