Bring the taste of the event to your next gathering with the cocktail of race day: the mint julep.
The Mint Julep Is a Signature Cocktail
This classic cocktail was introduced to the Kentucky Derby in 1875 and became the official drink in 1939.
For decades, spectators have been sipping on the whiskey-based beverage while the Run for the Roses takes place. In fact, it's estimated that around 120,000 mint juleps are consumed each year during Kentucky Derby week.
If you've ever wanted to try your hand at making one, we've got you covered. We spoke with local Cocktail Guru Jonathan Pogash, who shared a recipe with us.
