Forget the McRib, This McDonald’s Sandwich Should Be Permanently on the Menu
Every time that McDonald’s brings back the McRib, people go out of their minds and start campaigns to keep it permanently on the menu – but there’s another sandwich Mickey D’s has just brought back that should get that designation.
The current return of the McRib has been designated as the “McRib Farewell Tour,” with McDonald’s trying to convince us that the beloved saucy sandwich is going away for good after this brief run.
Judging by some of the recent incarnations of the McRib, that’s probably a good thing – and this is coming from someone who was a longtime diehard McRib guy. It just hasn’t been as good as it was in the past.
Another sandwich that has currently returned to the menu deserves far more love than the McRib, yet remains underappreciated in the pantheon of part-time sandwiches.
I’m talking about McDonald’s Steak, Egg and Cheese Bagel.
It’s back for a limited time, but it once was a permanent fixture on the breakfast menu. Sure, you can also get a bagel, egg and cheese topped with bacon or sausage, but the shredded steak is far more exciting (albeit much greasier).
I don’t know why the Steak, Egg and Cheese Bagel ever disappeared from McDonald’s to begin with, but one day, it just wasn’t there anymore. The sandwich has achieved cult status similar to the McRib, with a Change.org petition to put it back on the menu for good.
If you’ve never tried one, I suggest you give it a go before it’s gone. Let me know what you think of it by emailing me at tim@wbsm.com or text me using App Chat on the WBSM app.
And McDonald’s, if you’re reading this, make the Steak, Egg and Cheese a permanent option again. Oh, and don’t think about ever getting rid of the Sausage, Egg and Cheese McGriddle.
