After closing suddenly a few months ago, the Mattapoisett Diner has been sold to a new owner and is set to reopen as Pandolfi's Mattapoisett Diner as soon as next week.

The new owner, Brian Vose, tells Fun 107 that he was listening to the Rock and Fox Show when he first heard that the diner was for sale. After talking with his wife, the Market Basket traveling deli manager decided to put in a bid on the diner. The offer was accepted, and Vose has decided to leave his job at Market Basket to pursue his dream of being a restaurant owner.

Vose believes his experience working for Market Basket and the food service industry will help him with his new venture. He says working for the DeMoulas family at Market Basket taught him the importance of incorporating family values into a business. Vose hopes to accomplish that at the restaurant. The name Pandolfi is his mother's maiden name. Vose wanted to use it as the restaurant name because he grew up having Sunday dinners around the Pandolfi table.

He and his wife are scrambling to put the finishing touches on the diner's menu and staffing. They are targeting a May 14 opening date.

Even though the diner is under new ownership, customers can expect much of the same. The menu will offer many of the previous diner's favorites. Customers will also notice a few familiar faces left over from the previous ownership.

Initially, the dinner will be opened for breakfast and lunch only, but Vose hopes to offer dinners by the summertime. What can we look forward to on the dinner menu?

"Good, old fashioned, home cooked meals like meatloaf and chicken pie," said Vose.

The diner is also in the process of reclaiming the liquor license from the town.
