Last Call For Massachusetts and Rhode Island Starbucks Mugs
Whenever my wife and I travel, we visit a Starbucks to buy a coffee mug for my son and daughter-in-law, who have quite a collection. They travel extensively for work and recreation and have many, but not all, of the mugs. It's fun to hunt down mugs that they don't have.
We recently visited Fort Myers, Florida for the 20th annual New Bedford Day celebration and found a Starbucks. Much to our surprise, there were no mugs. An employee told us the mugs were being phased out and would become more difficult to find.
Returning home from Florida, we had a layover in Charlotte, North Carolina. There, I found a North Carolina mug and one that said "Charlotte." A text determined the kids had neither. They do now.
What followed was a day-long email chain with Starbucks corporate headquarters.
Javier R., a Starbucks Customer Care representative, told me, "I am sorry, but U.S. You Are Here State and City Mugs and Water Bottles have been discontinued."
Say it isn't so, Javier!
It took me a little while and another email or two to realize that the current series of mugs and water bottles is still available. The You Are Here series is not the current Been There series.
Starbucks Customer Care representative Maria E-G told me, "The new Been There Mug Collection launched in the Spring 2018 Promotion" and appears to be going nowhere, at least not now.
You still have time to snatch up a Massachusetts or Rhode Island Been There Mug. At some point, that series will be replaced by another.
