If you are ready for apples, they are ready for you. After what apparently was a perfect spring and summer for growing apples, orchards across Southern New England are starting to open for pick your own family fun. There are so many orchards to choose from across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Where you go to pick can depend on a lot of things. Do you want a quiet, less crowded farm? Are you looking for somewhere to spend the day and get more than just apples? Are you going kid-free and want a more adult experience? Believe it or not, there are farms for all of that and more.

For example, enjoying a tractor pulled hayride happens at many of the orchards on our list, but only Hill Orchards in Rhode Island does horse-drawn wagon rides. So many of these places serve up freshly made apple cider donuts, but only One Stack Farm in Stowe, Massachusetts mentions its apple cider popsicles.

If eating organic apples is right up your alley, then you should seek out Old Frog Pond Farm in Harvard, Massachusetts or Elwood Orchards in North Scituate, Rhode Island, as both farms have been certified organic.
