Massachusetts Residents Like This Sandwich Best

I'm throwing a red flag on this one.

For those unfamiliar with a red flag, it is actually a red rag, often stuffed in the pocket or sock of an NFL head coach. When the coach doesn't like the call on the field, he tosses the red flag on the ground, and the call gets reviewed on instant replay.

My red flag is on the ground as a challenge to what Zippia.com claims is the sandwich Massachusetts residents are "the biggest fan of."

Zippia says Rhode Islanders are most partial to the tuna sandwich. The site says folks in Connecticut dig bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches.

In Maine, it's the lobster roll. People in New Hampshire rate the roast beef sandwich at the top. Zippia says Vermonters are crazy for turkey sandwiches.

So which sandwich turns Massachusetts residents on? Zippia says it's the Fluffernutter. You know, peanut butter and Marshmallow Fluff on bread. Not just any bread either, white bread.

According to Southern Living.com, "The origin of the sandwich dates to the early 20th century, after the creation of a spreadable marshmallow cream in Massachusetts." The site says, "The earliest example of the sandwich was created by Emma Curtis in 1918 during World War I."

That may be true, but does that mean it's our favorite sandwich? I'm not sure I am buying it. With all of the great sandwich offerings in Massachusetts do you believe the Fluffernutter is the best? Blah!
