A Canton, Massachusetts man has died after being hit by a tree limb in Friday's storm.

The Boston Globe reports that 48-year-old Thomas Gunning died Saturday afternoon from injuries he sustained being hit by a falling tree limb in his yard after Friday's storm.

The branch reportedly fell from 40 or 50 feet and was heavy with snow.

Gunning was under the tree tending to an outdoor ice rink in his yard when the accident occurred.

A six-year-old Caton girl also died after a tree branch fell on her in Friday's storm.

Both branches fell from towering pine trees.
