Discover Card Ad Features Massachusetts-Born Comedian Coolidge
Am I the only one to discover Jennifer Coolidge when she began hawking the Discover Card credit card on TV? I need to get out more, or at least watch more TV.
Jennifer Coolidge was born on August 28, 1961, in Boston, Massachusetts. Coolidge was raised in Newton by Paul Constant Coolidge and Gretchen Knauf Coolidge. Her dad was a plastics manufacturer.
Coolidge attended Norwell High School, the Cambridge School of Weston, and Emerson College before studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
It seems the entire world already knows that Coolidge, a comedic actor who wanted to be the next Meryl Streep, is famous for her roles in American Pie, A Mighty Wind and the Legally Blonde series and is a Golden Globe Award Best Actress winner.
Coolidge is also a winner of the Hollywood Critics Association TV Award, MTV Movie and TV Award, Prime Time Emmy Award (twice for The White Lotus), and three-time Screen Actors Guild Award winner – to list a few of her many accolades.
Coolidge was the recipient of the Provincetown International Film Festival Award and was the Harvard Hasty Pudding Theatricals Award recipient for 2023.
With almost 60 film credits on her resume since 1995 and dozens of television appearances, including shows such as Seinfeld, Frasier, Sex and the City and Friends since 1993, how have I never heard of her until the Discover Card credit card ads?
Well, Jennifer Coolidge has my attention now, and with all those many roles to her credit since breaking into show business, I've got some research to do.
