Poll: Massachusetts Residents Take a Lot of Selfies – Even of Their Butts

Once, it was our loved ones, pretty colored trees on a crisp autumn day, or perhaps a castle in the sand on a sunshiny afternoon at Westport's Horseneck Beach.

Now, our favorite photographic subjects appear to be ourselves.

You're so vain. You probably think this story's about you (sorry, Carly Simon, I couldn't resist).

According to a new poll by ShinySmileVeneers.com, "People in Illinois take the most selfies, averaging around four per week, followed by New York, Arkansas, Massachusetts, and Oregon."

"Massachusetts residents take 2.44 selfies per week on average (fourth most nationally)," the website claimed.

Are there any gym rats out there? This statistic won't surprise you.

Shiny Smile Veneers says, "23 percent of Massachusetts residents admit to posting gym selfies (third most nationally)."

And then there is this:

The website says, "11 percent of Massachusetts residents admit to posting selfies of their butt (tied for 10th most nationally)."

Not for nothing, but Rhode Islanders take, on average, 1.32 selfies per week (19th), Maine 1.50 (17th), New Hampshire 0.82 (35th), Connecticut 0.74 (37th), and for some reason, Vermont is unranked.

Americans, on average, take 1.5 selfies per week. ShinySmilesVeneers says, "The bathroom mirror is the No. 1 place Americans take the most selfies, followed by the car." Thirty-five percent say they edit out selfies with "unflattering aspects of their appearance."

Gen Z takes the most selfies, on average, 3.2 per week, almost 2.5x as many as millenials.

By the way, South Carolina is responsible for the most butt selfies, while Georgia takes the most gym selfies.

All I can say is that you've got to have an awfully inflated ego to take that many selfies. Geez!
