Marion Fire/EMS Gets Donation from Anheuser-Busch, But It’s Not What You Think
You hear us talking about our first responders all the time on Fun 107. They are constantly going above and beyond to help those in need in our community, putting themselves in the line of danger constantly.
So when I hear about the amazing things happening for our first responders, I have to share.
The Marion Fire/EMS Departments recently received a large donation of emergency drinking water from Anheuser-Busch through a program that has been organized by the National Volunteer Fire Council. The donation for Marion was secured by Firefighter Joel Watters.
So far, Marion and Carver are the only departments in Massachusetts to get this kind of donation. Overall, the company plans to donate one million cans of water to volunteer firefighters across the country.
“As the country faces more natural disasters, like wildfires, it’s important to have more programs in place to help our emergency responders,” Adam Warrington, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Anheuser-Busch, said in a release. “With the evolution of our emergency drinking water program, we’re able to offer tangible support and necessary resources to those who are protecting our communities when they need it most.”
Now if I remember correctly, this type of donation isn't the first from the Anheuser-Busch company. In the past few years, they have turned their beer-making factories and distributions centers into facilities that can up water and send it off to many of our nation's natural disasters.
The water came just in time, too, as this past weekend's extreme heat really showed our firefighters how quickly they can become dehydrated.
The Marion Fire/EMS department couldn't be more thankful and shared their excitement on Facebook.
The pictures they posted look almost as amazing as if they were ice-cold cans of the brewed stuff.
