Dinosaur Park Splash Pad Is New England’s Coolest Escape
Although Massachusetts has over 200 beaches, not everyone in the Commonwealth is a beach person.
So where can you stay cool and still have fun?
Lots of parents turn to splash pads on the SouthCoast. Though you can find one in just about everywhere, only one claims to be the largest splash pad in all of New England.
That place is The Dinosaur Place in Oakdale, CT.
What Makes The Dinosaur Place Unique
Yes, just about 90 minutes from the SouthCoast is a massive 60-acre dinosaur park where you can wander among over 100 of life-sized dinosaurs, climb in a 2½‑story playscape, enjoy 1.5 miles of nature trails and cool off in a massive, zero-depth splash pad.
It's a day trip sure to entertain the whole crew and probably tire everyone out for you too.

As with most theme parks, buying your tickets online before you go is advised at The Dinosaur Place. The park is open daily from 9:30AM-6PM, tickets run from $34-$38 in peak season.
Know Before You Go
- Bring slip resistant shoes for the splash pad and a pair of socks for the T-Rex Tower. Both attractions are off-limits without proper footwear.
- Get there early. Parking is free at The Dinosaur Place, but the earlier you arrive the closer you can park.
- Pack a lunch. Food is available in the park, but outside food is welcome as well. There are lockers available to store food while you enjoy the trails and picnic areas to sit and eat.
- Check the weather. The park has plenty of shade and the splash pad, but walking miles in extreme heat can be rough. There are also a few indoor activities in the Nature's Art Village next door, but those are an added cost.
