Providence’s Roger Williams Park Zoo Welcomes ‘Return of the Dinosaurs!’
Get ready for a roar-ing good time in Providence.
The popular dinosaur trail at Roger Williams Park Zoo is back for the spring and summer seasons with some new additions and fun changes.
Return of the Dinosaurs! is an immersive walk-through trail, perfect for families, featuring roughly 60 dinosaurs that move and roar along the way.
For years, the dinosaurs have been entertaining families and zoo patrons, but this year, the trail features some new elements that will make you feel like you're at a theme park attraction.

Changes to the Dino Trail
The first change? The entrance. Typically the beginning of the trail (used for the Jack O' Lantern Spectacular as well) starts farther into the zoo. However, now the entrance will start near the Big Backyard, making the trek to get there much shorter.
The trail, which is very well designed, will also feature 25 new dinosaur species. There will be interactive elements and more of a story to be told along the way.
It reminds me of Disney rides and safaris where animals have "escaped" and you travel along to follow the adventure. Very fun!
Roger Williams Park Zoo even built an extension of the trail, taking you through a covered bridge, past giant dinosaur eggs and concluding with more kid-friendly fun.
Rides and Attractions on the Dino Trail
When you complete the trail, kids can interact with dinosaurs in a different way. From digging for fossils to riding a motorized dino, even hopping on a saddle of a prehistoric favorite, there are plenty of options to keep the fun going.
The Soaring Eagle Zip Ride will also be running right nearby, taking guests high above the trees, giving them a great view of Providence.
The dinosaur rides are available for an additional fee.
It's important to note that the dinosaur trail is not included in zoo admission. However, Roger Williams Park Zoo members can save $2 per ticket on Return of the Dinosaurs! admission.
Enjoy the fun along the trail when it officially opens on Sunday, April 6.
