See the 100 Stunning Nutcrackers Transforming Westerly This Christmas

The holiday season is the time of year when hundreds of dancers take to stages across the country performing in beloved Nutcracker ballets.

This year that classic performance is leaping off the stage and taking on a whole new form in Westerly, RI with the debut of The Nutcracker Trail.

Over 100 life-sized nutcrackers are on display throughout Westerly, as well as in Stonington, Pawcatuck, Mystic and Voluntown, CT bringing holiday cheer to streets and stores alike. They could even win you holiday prizes as you hunt for them all.

If heading out for holiday light displays on cold, December nights isn't what you're looking for this season, then perhaps you could try shopping while searching for beautiful handcrafted nutcrackers.

The Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year with 100 of these artist created one-of-a-kind nutcrackers. Each one is unique to where it is displayed and finding them all makes for a fantastic holiday adventure for the whole family.

How the Nutcracker Trail Works

All 100 nutcrackers are on display now through January 5, 2026 and are spread throughout the 'Ocean Community' area.

While many are displayed in store windows right in downtown Westerly, you can find others throughout Mystic shops, part of historic home holiday displays and even inside local police stations.

You can even scan bar codes on each Nutcracker you find to win prizes from the local businesses displaying them.
