Jesse Tyler Ferguson Visits Foxboro Cranberry Bog for a Good Cause
For lots of people in the Bay State, stepping into a pair of waders and hopping in a cranberry bog is a fall favorite. Last week, actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson got to find out why. The Modern Family actor visited the Ocean Spray cranberry bog behind Gillette Stadium in Foxboro on Thursday and it was all for a good cause.
Clearly, Ferguson had some fun on his visit to the bog. He ate, drank and even floated around on an inflatable swan; I'm pretty sure the average cranberry bogger doesn't typically do that. Why was Ferguson is Massachusetts floating on a swan in a cranberry bog? To help end child hunger, of course.
Ferguson is this year's spokesperson for the Ocean Spray holiday #BetterTogether campaign that gives families getting together for the holidays dozens of cranberry inspired recipes on the company's website. Since Ferguson is an avid food blogger with his friend Julie Tanous – the pair released the cookbook Food Between Friends last year – Ocean Spray felt he was perfect for putting a few cranberry recipes out to the world.
He also happens to be the face of the campaign that is also giving back. Ocean Spray has partnered with No Kid Hungry, a program that aims to give all kids healthy foods, and are going to be sending nutritious "thank you" packages to school staff across the country. Ferguson will even help put together those "thank you" packages and add a special message to each one.
"As a new dad, I'm so proud to partner with Ocean Spray to thank the school staff feeding our children by providing delicious and nutritious packages as part of the Ocean Spray #BetterTogether initiative supporting No Kid Hungry this holiday season," he said in a press release.
If showing your support means floating around Gillette Stadium's cranberry bog on a giant swan for an afternoon, all the better, I am sure. Honestly, Ferguson's recipes that I have tried are pretty amazing, so I am sure he is going to deliver something tasty for the holidays this year.
