Gronk Had a Blast at Army-Navy Game in Foxboro

Former New England Patriots legend Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski was right at home for the recent Army-Navy college football game at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro – literally and figurative.

Gronk, the four-time Super Bowl champion, played 11 years in the National Football League, nine of them at Gillette, and as we recently reported, his primary residence is still in Foxboro.

The Army-Navy game was played in Foxboro for the first time on Saturday, December 9, 2023. It was the 124th annual meeting of the teams representing the two branches of the U.S. military.

The Army Black Knights defeated the Navy Midshipmen, 17-11. The Midshipmen lead the series 65-54-7.

Like the big kid he is, Gronk horsed around with visiting students from both sides, joined Scott Zolak in the radio broadcast booth to share some football stories, and helped to give away a couple of vehicles to deserving veterans.

The vehicles, gifted by the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) in partnership with the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides program, were given away the day before the game at Boston's Faneuil Hall.

Gronk told American Military News, "Just to have Army versus Navy here in my backyard at Gillette Stadium is something special, that's for sure."

Gronk told reporters his appreciation of the military grew while working for the Kraft family as a member of the Patriots.

"There's many times we had military members at practices, meet-and-greets with them at training camp because they love our military," Gronk said, according to Fox News. "Robert Kraft stands for our military. He loves to give back to them, and I love to give back to them myself."
