KFC had a mini launch for this new menu item at the end of 2019. I guess the test run was a success because the fast-food joint made their Fried Chicken and Donuts a nationwide option for a limited time on Monday, February 24.

We wanted to try the hot, sweet, crispy, and salty flavor combination. Today, I took a trip to the KFC located on County Street in New Bedford to pick up a couple of different items for the work-family to taste test. Here are the different options available:

  1. Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts Sandwich - A chicken filet in between two glazed donuts, 1100 calories, $5.99
  2. Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts Basket Meal - chicken on the bone or chicken tenders paired with one donut, $5.49
  3. Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts Big Basket Meal - chicken on the bone or chicken tenders paired with two donuts, $7.49
  4. Single Donut a la carte - 420 calories, $1

Three of us would be participating in this taste test, so I ordered 2 Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts Sandwiches and one Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts Big Basket Meal for us to share. Instead of keeping the basket separated, we created a fresh sandwich back at the station to see if that was better than the actual sandwich.

You can see our review of this interesting blend of sticky, sweet, crispy, and savory. They'll only be sticking around until March 16 or until supplies last.

Disclaimer: We previously thought that the donuts used for the sandwiches were from Krispy Kreme, but later realized that they are just a similar product from KFC.
