As part of this year's Holiday Wish with the United Way, the staff at Silva & Co. have bought some of this year's most coveted items and are raffling them off in an effort to raise money to help the area's needier families this holiday.

If you are like many parents, you've been tasked to find a Hatchimal this Christmas and you may be at your wits end trying to find it.. For $10, you can buy a raffle ticket that could win you one (single) Hatchimal or the PJ Mask Headquarter toy. You can buy as many raffle tickets as you want because all of the money (yes, 100%!) goes towards the United Way of Greater New Bedford's Holiday Wish fund. The Holiday season is coming quickly: Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Many of us will be rejoicing and making memories with our families, yet there will be some (as you know) who are less fortunate and will just be happy to have food on their tables! When my sister and I were younger, our family was lucky enough to be the recipients of an anonymous donation (Grocery Gift Cards) from a local family that allowed us to have holiday dinner that year. The overwhelming emotions experienced are ones that cannot be described. It leaves something with you that says "People really do care!' and even sometimes says " I am worth it." It is around this time every year that I am reminded of and thankful for that family's random act of kindness. I want them to know that their message was well received and will be passed on. Years have passed and today we are thankful to celebrate our first holiday season at Silva & Co. Jewelers. We want you to know that we are committed to giving back to our community and paying it forward.
