A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up over the weekend at our Kia of Dartmouth Drive To Supply Our Schools Event! We were shocked to find out from the United Way of Greater New Bedford that 1 in every 4 students here on the Southcoast will be going back to school without the supplies they need.  We knew that once we shared that info with the Fun 107 audience, you would jump into action...and you DID!

We all remember the feeling of going back to school.  There were butterflies in your stomach as you walked down the hall and into your new classroom for the first time.  That first meeting with your new teacher just wouldn't have been the same if you didn't have all of the things you need tucked away in your backpack.  There's really something to be said about when students feel prepared, they just do better in school.  It's really no different than many things in life...the same logic applies.

Our goal was to fill the trunk of a Stinger GT from Kia of Dartmouth with critical school supplies for the area classrooms most in need in New Bedford and Wareham Public Schools.  We set up shop outside of the Walmarts in Dartmouth and Wareham.  Not only did we meet that goal, we surpassed it, collecting more than 2,000 back to school items for LOCAL kids in need...living right here on the SouthCoast.

Kia of Dartmouth's Drive to Supply Our Schools was made possible by Care Free HomesSouthcoast Health, and Cindy Irving Photography.  It's just part of our year-long partnership with the United Way of Greater New Bedford.
