New Bedford's annual Portuguese feast is jam-packed with tradition and always does a good job balancing the nostalgia we love with the changing times. This year's new feast t-shirts are a perfect example.

Friends and '80s Nostalgia Take Center Stage

Like this one, for example. Taking the classic titles from Friends and instead swapping the letters to F-E-S-T-A. Could it be any more perfect? We got the sneak peek of the feast shirts while broadcasting at the New Bedford Day of Portugal celebration back in June 2026, just weeks before the 110th Feast of the Blessed Sacrament.

This next one is a favorite of Michael Rock. What a cool way to rework an image that we grew up loving: the iconic scene from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. Taking an '80s film classic and turning it into a way to represent your favorite local event? Genius.

Something that I really appreciate about the choices this year is that they can be worn all the time. Now granted, I'm sure you wear your Feast shirts all the time, but I like the thought that passersby may have to do a doubletake to get the local references.
