LAKEVILLE (WBSM) — Lakeville Police have charged the former treasurer of the Freetown-Lakeville Parent Teacher Organization with embezzlement following an investigation.

Police Chief Matthew J. Perkins announced today that Zachary Granville-Wilmot, 43, of Assonet, was summonsed to court on charges that included two counts of forgery of a check, two counts of uttering a false check, and embezzlement over $250 by an association member.

Perkins also said a second man, James Granville-Wilmot, 41, of Assonet was also summonsed to court on a conspiracy charge. According to his Facebook profile, James Granville-Wilmot is married to Zachary Granville-Wilmot.

Freetown-Lakeville PTO Discovered Missing Funds

According to Perkins, Lakeville Police were informed on August 22 by the PTO of missing funds. Detective Robert Schiffer investigated the claims and discovered that over $15,000 in fraudulent transactions had allegedly been made by Zachary Granville-Wilmot in May and June of this year.

Court Dates and Charges Filed

Criminal complaints were issued on September 5 in Wareham District Court, and both men were summonsed to court and will be arraigned tomorrow.
