Summer is in full swing on the SouthCoast and many families are searching for things to keep the kids busy – without breaking the bank.
Here's a list of five family-friendly activities to enjoy this season.
1. Take a Hike (Literally)
With over 40 miles of hiking trails, Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust offers plenty of places to enjoy the great outdoors.

2. Play, Climb and Swing at a Local Playground
Noah's Place Playground and Tiverton Town Farm Recreation Area are a couple of go-to spots for me and my kids, but there are so many to explore on the SouthCoast.

3. Bike the Mattapoisett Rail Trail
This beautiful bike path takes walkers, riders and dogs along a stunning route featuring the ocean on one side and the marsh on the other.
4. Visit a Local Library
Though you do need to have a library card to take advantage of checking out books and signing up for different activities, local libraries within the SAILS Library Network offer a ton of summer programs and family fun.

5. Cool Off at a Local Splash Pad
Man, I wish they had these when I was a kid. Splash pads are always a hit with the kids, and they're a great option for the little ones who aren't quite ready for a full pool day.
