Food From This Fairhaven Restaurant Was So Good It Instantly Became a Movie Star
I always assumed that the highest compliment you could give a chef was either an empty plate or a deep belch. It turns out there's one level above either and it happened right in the center of Fairhaven.
Last week, Fun 107 reported that Little Village Cafe was chosen to feed the cast and crew of "Finestkind," the latest Hollywood movie filming on the SouthCoast. Owner Monica Mendonca was beyond thrilled and flattered when her restaurant made the cut.
Now, it appears that not only will Mendonca potentially have the honor of feeding Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones and the rest of the cast, but she can now go down in history as the only Fairhaven restaurant to have their food star in the actual film.
Allow me to explain.
"Can you drop off more scrambled eggs on your way home around 2:30ish?"
This was the text sent to Mendonca from one of the site crew members whose alias is "Dan Boxer."
Apparently, the meals Mendonca had cooked for the first day of filming in Fairhaven were only dished out to the main actors in the film.
The rest were used as props.
It just goes to show that good food can take you places.
Mendonca and her little Fairhaven restaurant, celebrating a year in business, will also be included in the end credits.
While most people will be looking out for familiar scenes of the waterfront and the SouthCoast area, you bet your money I'll be keeping an eye out for Mendonca's cacoila and linguica links.
