‘Ferris Bueller’ Actor Coming to Rhode Island Drive-In
If drive-in movies are your thing, you might want to check out what's happening over at the Misquamicut Drive-In Theater this weekend.
Not only is the movie Ferris Bueller‘s Day Off playing on the big screen, but one of the actors from the movie will also be there to watch it along side of you. His name is Jonathan Schmock and he's going to be a guest celebrity on Friday and Saturday night.
The drive-in is located at 361 Atlantic Ave in Westerly, Rhode Island and it opened up back in 2013 to offer that classic drive-in nostalgia with a modern twist, including entertainment before the scheduled movie begins. Bands, comics and entertainers like Schmock take over the stage for Q&A sessions before introducing the film for the evening.
Prior to the screening, Schmock will be signing autographs and merchandise for any attendees in honor of his memorable roles and career. Executive Director of the Misquamicut Business Association non-profit and town councilman Caswell Cooke explained how they were able to book Schmock.
"An agent contacted us and thought that the drive-in would be the perfect place for Schmock to kick off his meet and greet," Caswell said. "We're more than just a drive-in, we now have concerts and host actors such as Schmock to add to the experience."
Caswell said that the gates will open at 6:30 for autographs and to meet Schmock.
"It's like a movie and a show and people have been liking it," Caswell said. "His (Schmock) career is cool. He's the co-creator for Sabrina the Teenage Witch, wrote for Bill Maher and Dharma & Greg."
Schmock's career also led him to TV roles on Big Time Rush as the French Inspector, Arrested Development, Star Trek: Enterprise, The Golden Girls and The Big Bang Theory to name a few.
The film will screen from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and tickets for this event can be purchased here.
