A civil rights investigation will be conducted to see why a Fall River boy with cerebral palsy was isolated at his elementary school concert last December.

The winter concert at Spencer Borden Elementary featured a number of performances, including one with several students singing One Republic's "Counting Stars."

In video of that performance shown on NBC 10, you can see 10-year-old Cameron Silvia in his wheelchair, off the stage and away from the other students.

Silvia's mother, Cidalia Vitorino, told NBC 10 that the video clearly shows her son "being excluded" and adds that the stage is handicap accessible.

Following the December show, Vitorino filed a complaint with The Department of Education. The Department's Office of Civil Rights recently sent her a letter saying the incident will be investigated.

This is reportedly a third open investigation against the school district and all of the incidents involve students with disabilities.

Principal Kate Cobb did apologize to Silvia's parents, but Cameron's mother says even though she respects the apology, she knows there are other parents and students who experienced similar issues.

NBC 10 reports that no one from the school department has commented on the investigation.
