If you made fitness or weight loss a New Year's resolution, Fall River wants to help you keep it! The Greater Fall River Fitness Challenge is back and kicks off with a health fair this Saturday.

The GFRFC has been a huge success for years and has helped a lot of people not only lose weight, but really learn a lot about overall health and wellness. And this year Greater Fall River Re-Creation, Diabetes Association, General Fitness, Healthy City Fall River, Partners for a Healthier Community and the Fall River YMCA are doing it again!

Do you really want to commit to getting healthy in 2015

The challenge is open to adults who live, work or attend school in the Greater Fall River area and focuses on getting fit and healthy, learning about and preventing Type 2 diabetes and pledging to literally lose a ton of weight (that's 2000 lbs as a group!).

Those who join the challenge will have access to programs and fitness centers throughout the city for little or no cost where they can learn to eat healthy, lose weight and get fit!

Plus at the end of the challenge there will be rewards for those individuals who see the most improved overall fitness as well as the best attendance! First place wins $500! Second place and third place will win $250 and $100 respectively.

You can also sign up with others and form a team for added support! The teams that see the best overall improvement will win free gym memberships, to keep their fitness goals going!

So do you really want to commit to getting healthy in 2015? Then this could be the perfect way to do it! The challenge gets underway this Saturday with a Health Fair at Kuss Middle School from 10am-12noon.
