Fall River Man Sentenced to Life for Valentine’s Day 2018 Murder
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Fall River man was convicted of murder in the Valentine’s Day 2018 shooting death of Maurice Timberlake, also of Fall River.
A jury convicted Keishon Workman, 25, of first degree murder and carrying an illegal firearm after a two-week trial in Fall River Superior Court, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Workman was then sentenced by Judge Thomas McGuire to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years. According to the D.A.’s Office, this was the maximum sentence allowed by the law because Workman was 19 years old when he murdered Timberlake.
On February 14, 2018, Workman stalked and then ambushed Timberlake, 24, at the corner of South Main Street and Morgan Street in Fall River. He shot Timberlake seven times at close range in broad daylight.
Workman was taken into custody by Fall River Police in the Corky Row section of Fall River shortly after the shooting was reported. He was charged with murder a day later.
“This was a premeditated and brutal killing in broad daylight on a city street. The victim was shot seven times and the lives and safety of other innocent people were put in jeopardy by the defendant’s action,” Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said.
“As stated in the victim impact statements after the verdict, this senseless murder has upended the lives of the victims family who loved him very much. I thank them for their patience during the past six years waiting for the opportunity to have the defendant held accountable by the jury. I hope the verdict brings some solace to the victim’s family,” Quinn said. “I want to thank the prosecution team for their efforts in presenting a strong case and the jury for their service during the two-week trial.”
