November is the time of year when men’s health, both physically and mentally, is brought into the spotlight instead of being quietly ignored, but for Fall River native Scott Medeiros, every single day is about the fight. Medeiros has used his voice online for over a decade, and while the local community knows him as raw, funny, bold and unfiltered, there’s a deeper story behind all of that.

It didn’t start as a mission. Medeiros admits he originally started opening up about his anxiety and intrusive thoughts simply because it made him feel better. Then, something unexpected happened: people quietly nodded with him. People told him, “Same.” People whispered, “Me, too.” In that instant, Medeiros realized how many men were quietly drowning inside.

He was giving people permission they didn’t know they were allowed to have.

Rock Bottom Came in 2020

Medeiros had always been a nervous kid, but after contracting COVID in November of 2020, something snapped. The virus hit his nervous system and it triggered a spiral that lasted months.

“I got stuck in anxiety,” he said. “Like my nervous system thought a lion was about to kill me, but there was no lion.”

For four months he was out of work. He lost 30 pounds. He was terrified of his own brain. The scariest part was that his mind found a “way out” that gave him peace – and it was the darkest way possible.

That was rock bottom.

The First Step Back Wasn’t Magical, It Was Microscopic

What got him out was “fake it till I make it.” Not in a cheesy motivational sense, but literally forcing himself to notice tiny wins.

“I ate today. That’s good. I shaved yesterday. That’s good.”

Those baby steps pulled him one notch closer to the light. The other major piece was his wife, Sarah. Her support gave him confidence and reminded him that he mattered.

When Medeiros started to believe he was actually worth something, that’s when things shifted.

The Unfiltered Outlet That Helped Him Heal

While the world carefully curates Instagram perfection, Medeiros went the other way. He grabbed his phone and began posting the thoughts, the mess, the humor, the honesty and the mental chaos.

People couldn’t stop watching. Not because it was trendy, but because it was real.

Medeiros didn’t care about the perfect angle or looking like a Kardashian. He cared about truth, and truth resonated. For years, through everything, his following stuck with him because he showed the parts most people hide.

Boxing Became a New Tool

Two years ago, Medeiros added something new to the mix: combat training.

“I had anger issues,” he admitted. “Sarah suggested maybe boxing would be good for me.”

So he walked into a Fall River gym, told them he knew nothing, and started from zero. Now, he’s about to fight again.

Medeiros will be stepping into the ring on November 22 in Middletown, Rhode Island.

His Message For Any Man Who Is Quietly Suffering

“At the end of the day, anything being held in has to come out," he said.

Medeiros' final piece of advice: if you’re struggling, get a therapist who is outside your circle. Someone who won’t judge you. Someone you can unload the ugliest, scariest, most uncomfortable stuff on.

This isn’t about looking weak. It’s about staying alive.

If you think no one gets it, Scott Medeiros does.
