Fall River Police Investigating Woman’s Death at Homeless Encampment
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Fall River Police are investigating after a woman died after acting erratically at a homeless camp Sunday night.
Fall River Police posted to Facebook that the department was experiencing “an extremely busy night in which public safety resources were being stretched thin” on the evening of June 29.
At about 9 p.m., officers responded to a homeless encampment at the bottom of Middle Street for a report of a woman in crisis.
“A witness at the camp reported that a 43-year-old female had been acting erratically and threatening others with scissors before fleeing into the camp just prior to the police arrival,” police wrote.

“Officers searched the dark area and quickly located the female. She was unconscious, was transported to Saint Anne’s Hospital by paramedics, where she was pronounced deceased shortly after,” according to police.
Police did not provide any further information on the incident.
WBSM reached out to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office to find out the woman’s identity and cause of death but has not heard back as of this writing. We will update this story if more information becomes available.
Police said the investigation is ongoing by Fall River Police Major Case detectives and Massachusetts State Police detectives.
