Fairhaven’s Got Pride is an event dedicated to supporting and celebrating the local LGBTQ+ community.

Whether you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, an ally or simply curious about the vibrant rainbow symbols, everyone is welcome to join the festivities. This inclusive celebration features entertainment, guest speakers, vendor and information booths, opportunities for sharing stories and more.

Fairhaven's Got Pride includes a "Chalk the Walk" on June 8, 6 p.m. Participants will decorate a rainbow crosswalk.

The main Pride celebration takes place on Sunday, June 9, beginning with a Unitarian Universalist outdoor service at 10 a.m., followed by the Pride festivities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The events will be held on the lawn of Fairhaven Town Hall and on Center Street between Town Hall and Millicent Library.

Pride Month is about solidarity, bringing together LGBTQ+ individuals to celebrate their identities and achievements. Fairhaven Pride says visibility is crucial because it fosters understanding, empathy and acceptance within society. When LGBTQ+ people are seen and heard, it helps break down barriers and promotes a more inclusive community.

That's exactly what Fairhaven's Got Pride plans on doing.

It's also a reminder of the damaging effects of homophobia and the ongoing struggles against prejudice, hatred and lack of acceptance.
