WBSM and Fun 107 first reported in early August that Starbucks was considering opening a location in Fairhaven. Not only can we now confirm the news, we can tell you when the company plans to cut the ribbon.

I'll give you a hint: think pumpkin spice.

A Starbucks spokesperson from the company's Media Relations Department told me in an email, "We are happy to confirm that we will be opening a new location at 29 Alden Road in Fairhaven, Massachusetts."

When can you order your favorite Starbucks beverage from the new location? Media Relations says the Fairhaven store will open "during the Fall of 2024."

That's a long time to wait, but until then, Starbucks has locations in Dartmouth and New Bedford to satisfy your needs.

Starbucks says it will be located at the corner of Alden Road and U.S. Route 6, where the empty Dunkin' now sits. The company will also utilize the space from the Tropical Smoothie Cafe next door and developer Panagakos Development plans to demolish both buildings and build a new Starbucks with an expanded parking lot and a drive-thru lane.

Unfortunately, Karyn Ferreira has had to move her Tropical Smoothie to make way for the new Starbucks. Ferreira plans to open at a new location further west on Route 6 at the CVS plaza.

Permits are still pending for a Tropical Smoothie drive-thru at the new location.

Let's hope the town accommodates Ferreira's needs, as Tropical Smoothie was a great addition to the culinary scene in Fairhaven.

I will miss the Tropical Smoothie on Alden Road, but I look forward to checking out Ferreira's new location when it opens.

With the addition of Starbucks and the retention of Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Fairhaven will remain a top-notch spot for eats and drinks.
