Sad news out of Dartmouth as the famous purple dinosaur of Dartmouth's Regional Parks and Trails has been found mutilated.

It seems the head of the popular dinosaur was hacked off and discarded into the bushes. The rest of the body and the springs that once rocked hundreds of children at play are still unaccounted for.

This was no prank. This was malicious and unacceptable.

While there are so many unanswered questions, one thing is for sure- the head was sawed off leaving the edges of the neck rough to the touch.

Oddly enough, this isn't the first purple dinosaur to go missing this year. A Tennessee town was heartbroken after its purple dinosaur was ripped from the ground and never returned.

I have enjoyed a relaxing rocking session or two on the purple dinosaur which, to my knowledge, was never given a name.

It's come to the point where we can't have nice things thanks to a few bad eggs.

Hopefully, the vandal responsible for this abominable act is brought to justice.

May we never forget Dartmouth's purple dinosaur.
