Dartmouth Mother’s Day Event Will Support Small Local Business
If ever there was a great way to help support and promote small local businesses, it's this event.
The 2022 Merry Making Happenings Mother's Day Fair is a free public event happening Sunday, May 1, 12 to 4 p.m., at Rachel's Lakeside in Dartmouth.
Local business owners Maureen Rainha and Nicole Viveiros teamed up to form Merry Making Happenings in 2021 to help new and local small business owners with business-building, community connections and customer visibility. The duo has brought 30-plus local small business vendors together to help build exposure. All are local to Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
"The purpose of this event is to support shopping small this Mother’s Day and to provide people with a place to do their shopping in a joyful environment," Viveiros said. "It will also allow us to showcase some of the newer small businesses in our area, and bring together local small businesses with the people of our community."
Parents are encouraged to bring their children, who will keep busy by going around the venue, marking postcards to win gifts and prizes.
"There's going to be tons of shopping, raffles and refreshments and will also have a fun activity available for the first 50 kids with prizes for whoever collects all the stamps," Viveiros said.
The event is organized and hosted by The Donut Shack and Maureen’s Custom Boutique whose missions are to inspire others to follow their dreams, live life to the fullest and encourage collaboration over competition.
There will be a raffle table full of specialty baskets, gift cards and more. Complimentary iced tea, lemonade, food, and snack vendors will also be available with a photo booth that comes complete with fun props.
