Dartmouth Man Pays Forward Kindness With 100 Linguica Cheese Rolls
Generosity is not that hard to find around the SouthCoast if you pay close enough attention.
There's nothing better than a positive and local random-act-of-kindness story and this one is particularly delicious.
If you're a fan of hot, fresh linguica cheese rolls, buckle up.
On Wednesday, May 3, the first 100 customers who stop by The Baker at 562 Pleasant St. in New Bedford will receive a complimentary roll with any purchase of a coffee or menu item.
It's all thanks to the Adam Bapstista Jr. of Dartmouth who just wanted to do something nice for people.
Brandon Roderick, owner of The Baker, said Baptista reached out to him on Facebook and explained that he wanted to help. It turns out Baptista received a handful of gift cards for Christmas and wanted to double the amount with his own money to purchase 100 linguica cheese rolls for customers.
"Thank you (to Baptista) first of all," Roderick said. "It’s an excellent opportunity to spread that little bit of cheer in the morning. We're hoping it’s a chain reaction to help spread some kindness to other businesses as well."
For his part, Baptista told Roderick he knows times are tough for some people and he sees this as a way to give back to his community.
"I just want to spread kindness," Baptista said. "I know that I'm not going to change the world, I'm just hoping to influence others who will in return influence others. What the world needs is more kindness and to support locals. I want to help out as many local businesses as possible and would love to get a group of people to collab with so we can continue to share the love on a larger level."
This isn't the first time Baptista has stepped up to the plate to spread awareness to support local mom-and-pop businesses. He and his buddy Ryun "Sauce" Coleman (with permission) took over the front counter of Sunrise Bakery and Coffee Shop back in November 2021.
It's first come, first serve on Wednesday with a strong message to wash down those linguica cheese rolls with some kindness and local support for small businesses.
