Dartmouth Man Charged With Robbing 85-Year-Old Woman For Gym Membership

Police say 24-year-old Patrick Maccini grabbed the wallet of an 85-year-old woman at the Dartmouth Street Stop & Shop on Thursday.  

He allegedly grabbed the wallet from her shopping cart before he ran from the store.   After police received reports of a man acting suspicious and counting money at Howland Place, they found Maccini signing up for a temporary gym membership so he could rent a locker.  He had apparently planned to hide the leather coat and sweatshirt he was wearing at the time of the robbery.

When the cops took him back to the supermarket, he was identified as the man who stole the wallet.  Meanwhile, the elderly woman suffered a panic attack after begin robbed, but refused medical treatment.
