Everyone may not agree, but one Connecticut town wants to put guns in teachers hands.

For many parents, school shootings have become way too common. And most schools now practice "lockdown drills" just like they have fire drills.

So one Connecticut town thinks to keep their kids safe, the teachers should have guns.

According to NECN.com, Kent, Connecticut's Board of Selectman is going to present a plan that would allow guns in the classroom.

Reporter Abbey Niezgoda spoke with members of the board who say,

Basically we’re talking about arming teachers or administrators,”

Their plan comes from an Ohio based program called Faster Saves Lives which essentially trains teachers and administrators on what to do before the police arrive if their school is under attack.

The program trains teachers on how to respond, gives them access to a trauma kit and allows anonymous volunteers to carry weapons inside the school.

Meaning some teachers are armed during the school day, but you don't know which ones.

The Kent Board of Selectmen feel that in their small town with limited police resources, something like Faster Saves Lives could literally do just that.

Parents in Kent however don't necessarily agree.

One parent told NECN,

I think it’s going in the wrong direction and it’s disheartening that they are even considering it.”

And another said

I don’t want my child’s teacher to have a gun and I don’t know a lot of teachers who would want to have guns."

The Board of Education, who will ultimately decide if arming teachers is right for their school, have yet to comment on the program which will be presented to them at their March meeting.

So would you side with the parents or the Board of Selectman on guns inside your child's school? Take our poll.
