Hard to believe, but it's been 20 years since the Red Sox "reversed the curse" and won their first Major League Baseball World Series since trading Babe Ruth in 1918.

Twenty years ago this week, New England was still coming off the high of coming back from the improbably 0-3 start against the Yankees. We were all sleep deprived with the games going into the wee hours of the morning.

There was no rest for the weary, however. Many of us didn't know it, but that's what happens when you win the American League Championship Series. You go to the World Series, a place where Sox fans hadn't seen their team since the infamous 1986 World Series against the Mets.

So, here we are, 20 years later, celebrating that team of "Dirt Dogs." They were the team that coined the phrase "Cowboy Up" (Kevin Millar gets the credit for that one).

Netflix has a terrific series that tells the unlikely story of the 2004 Red Sox. A story that really started with manager Grady Little leaving Pedro Martinez in too long in the 2003 American League Championship Series and watching a Tim Wakefield (God rest his soul) knuckler soar into the seats courtesy of Aaron (Freaking) Boone.

If you'd like to relive the memories as seen through the eyes of the players, Mohegan Sun is throwing a "Reverse the Curse" party with some big name guests of honor lined up for a question-and-answer period.

Manny Ramirez, Johnny Damon, Alan Embree, Mike Timlin, and Keith Foulke will all be in attendance. The 20-year anniversary celebration will take place on November 9, 2024 at novelle. Tickets are available on the Mohegan Sun website.
