The Cape Cod Museum With World’s Only Authentic Pirate Treasure
When the weather outside is telling you to stay indoors, it's the perfect time to explore some amazing local museums.
One such Massachusetts museum is dedicated to the world's only authenticated pirate ship and it's a great place for both looters and landlubbers to spend the day.
If you have ever dreamed of holding actual pirate treasure in your hands, then the Whydah Pirate Museum on Cape Cod needs to be on your "must see" list this summer.

World's Only Authenticated Pirate Ship
Back in 1984 explorer Barry Clifford first discovered the wreck of the Whydah Gally off the shores of Cape Cod, marking the first confirmed pirate shipwreck ever found in North America.
By October 1985 he had pulled the ship's bell from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean inscribed with "The Whydah Galley 1716" and confirmed the famous vessel's identity.

Since then he has recovered over 100,000 artifacts from the wreckage and helped historians paint a clearer picture of what pirate life was like in the 18th century.
Now you can explore these artifacts including gold, silver, weapons and cannons in the Cape's newest interactive science museum. There's even a meticulously recreated section of the Whydah itself where you can see what it was like to live like a pirate.
Real-Time Restoration of Treasure
As if the treasure and pirate ships weren't enough, this unique museum also offers you a chance to see real-time restoration of treasure that is still being pulled off the ocean floor to this day.
