Cape Cod Hospital Patients May Have Been Exposed To Deadly Brain Disease

When you go to the hospital, you never expect to hear this type of news! Shocking and unbelievable news coming out of Cape Cod tonight. Five patients who were treated at Cape Cod Hospital may have been exposed to a deadly brain disease. The risk is said to be very low at this time.The exposure is limited to patients who were treated using the same device that was used at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire.

WBZ-TV reports a patient in that state likely died from Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease last month. New Hampshire officials say the victim had brain surgery at Catholic Medical Center in May and was later readmitted with signs of rapidly advancing dementia. The patients have who were exposed at Cape Cod Hospital underwent spinal surgery and not brain surgery. They have been notified and there is no risk to hospital staff or the public.
