Cape Cod Goes Hollywood as ‘Harpoon Hunters’ Hooks Viewers with Must-See TV
Cape Cod is being transformed from a traditional summer getaway into a Hollywood movie set capturing real-world high-stakes bluefin tuna fishing.
If you love nail-biting TV like Deadliest Catch, Harpoon Hunters is a must-watch.
The new Discovery show, premiering Friday, January 24th at 9:00 PM., takes you deep into the heart of bluefin tuna fishing off Cape Cod, where four elite fishermen fight against time and nature to reel in as many fish as they can before the season's strict quota is hit.
The show follows Captains Dylan Caldwell, Niko Chaprales (who’s carrying on his father Bill’s legacy), Joe Dion and Tyler Macallister.
These aren’t your average fishermen – they’ve spent their lives learning the ways of the sea and now rely on their skills to survive.
For them, it’s not just about catching fish; it’s about providing for their families and keeping alive a way of life that’s been passed down through generations.
What makes Harpoon Hunters so thrilling is the high pressure of the bluefin tuna season. The window to catch tuna is incredibly narrow, and with each fish worth up to $10,000, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The crews face harsh conditions and fierce competition from other fishermen, making it a battle of skill, experience and endurance.
The fishing tools they use – 10-foot electrified spears – are just as intense as the fish they’re trying to catch, with some tuna growing as big as 13 feet.
While Cape Cod is known for its peaceful beaches and stunning scenery, Harpoon Hunters shows another side of the Cape: the gritty, high-pressure world of these hardworking fishermen.
Don’t miss the premiere on January 24th, and get a rare look at this intense, often unseen world.
